Every year the Journal and Courier selects the top girls volleyball players from classes A and 2A. The players are voted on by coaches in the area. This year, there were 18 members selected, and three of the girls are from Benton Central. Senior Riley Hoaks, Junior Bella Widmer, and Junior Cali Foster were all selected. Sophomore McKenna Yadon was named as one of the 13 honorable mentions as well. The Lady Bison volleyball team had an extraordinary season finishing with a 27-5 record and a 5-0 record against conference opponents. Now some of their talented players are rewarded.
Cali Foster is a very talented player and helped lead Benton Central this season. Journal and Courier writer Ethan Hansen writes, “One of the area’s top all-around players, Foster displayed elite skill as an attacker, at the net and as a reliable back row player on defense.” She led the Lady Bison with 343 kills, a .370 hitting percentage, 60 aces, 33 blocks, 232 digs, and 275 receives.
Bella Widmer played on BC’s back row this year and had a great season as well. She led the team with 337 digs and 455 receives. Widmer also tallied 44 kills on the season along with 3.8 digs per set.
Riley Hoaks played excellent in her senior season, leading the team in assists with 533 and 6.3 assists per set.
As just a sophomore, McKenna Yadon was named an honorable mention. She was second on the team in kills with 230 and third in digs with 147.
