The Benton Central softball team hosted Central Catholic for their senior night last Thursday. After having just one senior last season, the girls celebrated three this year. Mariyah Rich, Hunter Biddle, and Annie Lank were all recognized before the game. Senior managers Sophia Juarez and Tielyr Alexander were recognized for their efforts as well.
This was the second matchup between the two teams, as the Lady Bison won 13-7 in their first outing. In Thursday’s senior night game, Benton Central was victorious again, winning 12-2 with 11 total hits in an impressive performance.
The seniors came to play on their big night. Mariyah Rich went 4/4 at the plate with four hits, three RBIs, and three runs scored. She also added a stolen base and a perfect fielding performance to round out an outstanding senior night. Mariyah’s performance earned her the Benton Central Softball Player of the Game Award. Senior Hunter Biddle had a hit on her big night and was flawless behind the plate. As the team’s catcher, Hunter finished with a perfect fielding percentage and five putouts. Senior Annie Lank also played well, getting on base in each at-bat with two walks.
After the Lady Bison’s resounding victory over the Knights, their record moves to 5-8. They have several games this week and will look to improve to .500.
Congratulations to seniors Mariyah Rich, Hunter Biddle, and Annie Lank for their softball careers and their great performances on Thursday!
