The Benton Central girls track and field team competed at Sectionals earlier this week. They placed 6th overall as a team and had several athletes place high enough to advance to Regionals. The 4X800 relay team, consisting of Maddie Peterson, Loralei Rayman, Chauncey Keller, and Sienna Holscher, advanced to Regionals. The 4X100 relay team of Kendall Gephart, Olive Budreau, Chauncey Keller, and Maddie Peterson will also be advancing.
Sophia Zarate placed 1st in discus and was crowned the Sectional Champion. Her performance was outstanding, and advanced her to Regionals.
Multiple athletes earned points for their team as well.
- Keagan Strickland placed 5th in the high jump
- Chauncey Keller placed 7th in the long jump and 5th in the 300m hurdles
- Maddie Peterson placed 5th in the 200m dash
- Loralei Rayman placed 7th in the 800m run
Congratulations to the BC girls’ track and field team for their incredible performance at Sectionals, and good luck to the athletes participating in Regionals. The Regional will be held on May 27th, at 6:00 P.M. at Lafayette Jefferson High School. Be there to support the girls!
