The varsity cross country teams competed at McCutcheon’s Maverick Stampede at Wea Ridge Elementary School on Saturday. The girls placed second as a team overall, just behind McCutcheon, while the boys finished third as a team, behind Northwestern and McCutcheon.
The girls had a solid performance with the help of Loralei Rayman’s 4th place (22:02), followed closely behind by 5th place finisher Maddie Peterson’s (22:08), and Maggie Rayman’s 13th place (23:47). Three of our girls ribboned, Allie Wuethrich had a season best time, and Samiyah Rich finished just short of her season best time set just last week.
Carter Fox aided the boys’ team with an 8th place finish (17:49), along with Matthew McKinnis’s ribbon, earning 20th place (19:01). Ten of our 13 boys had a season-best time on a tough course, beating their previous times from last week.
The varsity cross country teams will return to the Tippecanoe Amphitheater next Saturday for the massive 24-team Harrison Invitational. The boys’ race begins at 9 AM, followed by the girls’ race at 9:40 and the JV boys’ race at 10:20.
