The Benton Central Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams ran their home course for the first time of the season on Tuesday. The 3-team race with Seeger and Central Catholic finished with a lap on the brand new track. Several runners were able to run at or under their season-best times, despite having just set them the previous Saturday.
The varsity boys had the first race of the evening. Carter Fox was the individual champion with his season-best time of 17:44. His efforts aided in a first-place team finish, alongside Jonah Fleming 3rd, Grady Rudolph 6th, Sam Fleming 9th, Jude Johnson 13th, Louie Pyke 17th, Bryce Floyd 21st, Ben Caldanaro 22nd, Dietrich Payne 29th, Jackson Smith 30th, Cameron Glotzbach 31st, and Adler Payne 32nd.
The varsity girls finished just one point shy of Seeger to earn second place as a team. Loralei Rayman placed 2nd, Maddie Peterson 3rd, Maggie Rayman 5th, Samiyah Rich 12th, and Allie Wuethrich 14th.
The varsity cross country teams have a week off before traveling North. They will compete in the New Prairie Invitational, featuring nearly 2,000 runners from across the state, next Saturday.
