BC’s Varsity Cross Country team competed at the New Prairie Invitational Saturday. Nearly 100 teams traveled North to one of the nations top ranked courses. Featuring almost 2,000 athletes, including most of the state qualifying runners, and schools ranging from A to AAA participated in the 9 races. Both of our teams fared well at this unique and difficult course.
The girls were led by Maddie Peterson who ribboned with a time of 20:48, placing 21st out of 200 girls. The Lady Bison were followed by Loralei Rayman (21:36), Maggie Rayman (22:39), and Samiyah Rich (26:12).
The boys’ leader was Carter Fox with a time of 17:56, who placed just outside of ribbon finish in 44th of 233 runners. Of the 27 boys’ teams, the Bison earned 15th place. Our varsity boys consisted of Jonah Fleming (18:31), Matthew McKinnis (18:51), Grady Rudolph (19:30), Sam Fleming (19:35), Jude Johnson (20:57), and Louie Pyke (21:34).
The boys’ team also fielded a junior varsity team, who were delayed by lightning multiple times. Leading for the JV boys was Bryce Floyd (22:48), then Dietrich Payne (25:44), Jackson Smith (25:57), Cameron Glotzbach (26:26), and Adler Payne (27:52). BC was one of a few teams to qualify as a team in this category.
