On Saturday, October 13th, the Benton Central Boys Soccer team competed in a competitive, tiring match versus West Lafayette High School. This was the sectional championship match. Though the Bison did not leave victorious, they did not leave empty-handed. This was the Bison’s first time competing in a 2A Sectional Championship. Without even winning, they had already made history in their school.
Over the season, the Bison competed very well. They had an overall record of 13-6, with Zed Bennet leading the Bison with approximately 1.3 goals per match and Aiden Zimmerman leading the Bison with approximately 0.7 assists per match. Nolan Winkler, the Bison’s Goalie, had on average 58 saves the entire season. These statistics truly do reflect the amount of work and detail these players have put in to conclude an incredible season.
Though the loss was tough, the Bison team stayed together as one stampede. This team truly does exemplify how far hard work and team unity can get you. Congratulations, Boys, on an incredible season.
