On October 1st, 2024, the Benton Central Volleyball Team defeated Logansport at home. October is breast cancer awareness month, and the court and stands were filled with pink in support of the cause. The team wore pink bows in their hair and pink T-shirts that said “Volley for a Cause.” Before the varsity game, applause filled the crowd as the team honored fans who knew someone fighting or who were fighting themselves.
The freshman team won in two sets: 25-15, 25-23. The junior varsity also won in two sets: 25-16 and 25-20. The varsity was victories in three sets: 25-9, 25-16, 25-12.
During the varsity game, juniors Cali Foster and Ava Holder collected 8 kills and 7 kills, respectively. Mckenna Yadon and Rhyan Deno, both sophomores, had 7 kills apiece. Sophomore Ella Miller had 3 kills and senior Catie Musser had 1 kill. Bella Widmer (junior), Harper Harrell (junior), and Khloe Goodman (freshman) had an amazing defensive game, collecting a total of 12 digs. Senior Riley Hoaks and junior Izzy Adams collected 15 and 18 assists, respectively.
The Varsity record is 24-4 after sweeping McCutcheon on October 3rd and winning the Hoosier Conference Tournament on October 5th.
