On Thursday, February 13th, the Benton Central JAG class won first place at regionals, moving them to the state competition. Qualifiers are Paizley Step with her first-place chapter brochure and Val Caliz, Maria Miranda, and Paizley Stepp with first place on project-based learning. Also, Caden Kawlewski, Eli Sheets, and Owen Pearson won first with their business plan. Jazmine Merrill won first place in public speaking, and finally, Wyatt Amor won the Outstanding Senior award! We are all wishing luck to our Juniors and Seniors going out to state on Friday March 14th!
To motivate his students, Mr. Slavens offered to shave his head if his JAG students won the number one chapter (out of 11) in the regional competition. To his surprise, the motivation worked a little too well…and they won the trophy and coveted WWE belt. True to his word, during Bison Block, February 19th, Mr. Slavens let three students, Paizley Stepp, Owen Pearson, and Clarissa Vera, shave his head!
