Senior Night Recap
The Benton Central boys basketball team hosted the Logansport Berries for their Senior night last week. There are five seniors on the team: Hunter Sisson, Colby Dixon, Austin Kuckartz, Kolton Watt, and Ian Metzinger. They were all recognized before the game and were escorted to half-court by their parents. In their final high school regular season basketball game, the Seniors needed to finish their careers strong. And they did exactly that.
The Bison started strong in the first quarter by taking an early 19-18 lead. They kept their lead through halftime when they headed into the locker room with a 32-30 lead. It was a close game and the Bison were going to need a great second half to finish it. They played steady again in the 3rd quarter entering the 4th with a 48-45 lead. Then in the 4th quarter, BC held onto the lead, securing a 67-63 victory. Hunter Sisson scored 27 and Colby Dixon had 26 to cement a Senior night win for Benton Central.
Senior Spotlights
Hunter Sisson
Hunter is one of Benton Central’s five seniors this season. He is known for his size standing around 6’6” and his elite scoring ability. Hunter recently scored his 1,000th point in his career, making him just the 10th player in Benton Central boys basketball history to reach 1,000 points. His excellent shooting ability combined with his dominant presence in the paint allowed him to clear such an unbelievable milestone. Congratulations to Hunter on such an amazing feat!

Colby Dixon
Colby is a starter for the Varsity team and is one of the more talented high school basketball players I’ve had the pleasure of watching. He can shoot with the best of them and his aggressive drives to the basket are difficult to defend. His scoring has been a vital asset to the team this year, and his season-high 26 points against Logansport is an impressive number to add to his resume.

Austin Kuckartz
Austin has been a Varsity starter for the majority of the season. While not having the most size and strength on the team, Austin is quite the hustle player. He’s constantly diving for loose balls and crashing the boards to grab a rebound. I would describe him as being the ultimate team player. He is willing to do whatever it takes for his team to win. Whether that’s hitting multiple threes a game (which he’s proved he can do) or guarding the other team’s best player, Austin has been great for Benton Central basketball.

Kolton Watt
Kolton has earned a lot of Varsity playing time this season. He prides himself on his defense and ability to lock down the opposing team’s best player. Kolton might be one of the toughest players I’ve ever been around. He’s fearless and is up for any challenge. Whenever Coach asks who wants to play defense, Kolton is always the first to volunteer.

Ian Metzinger
While Ian didn’t have an enormous amount of playing time this season, he has still contributed to the team. During practice, Ian is tasked with guarding Hunter who is much bigger than Ian. But he always battles and provides Hunter with a challenge. Ian is a physically strong player, and when Coach needs someone to put their body on the line, Ian is the man for the job

The win over Logansport improved their record to 10-13 on the season. Due to their tough competition, a 10-13 record is quite impressive. Their most notable wins were against Central Catholic, Seeger, North Montgomery, and Covington. It was a great regular season for the Bison and now they will shift their focus to Sectionals.
