The boys’ tennis team celebrated their Senior Night last Thursday with a win against Delphi. However, the evening was about much more than that. Before the match, the team held a heartfelt tribute honoring both the graduating seniors and the lasting impact of beloved Coach Jim Pilarski.
Senior parent, Sherri Hardebeck, led the celebration with the announcement of a generous donation of new court signs in his honor. She also delivered a touching eulogy, displaying the lasting effects he had on the program and its players. Adding to the emotional evening, Coach Pilarski’s daughter, Jayme Buchanan, gifted each player a racket dampener with a message on them. The messages were all preaching Coach Jim’s biggest philosophy: Fundamentals.
Throughout his time at BC, Coach Pilarski did more than just teach tennis. He built the foundation of a culture that values, respect, and growth. His legacy continues to shape the lives of his players, both on and off the court. His lessons, wisdom, and unwavering support will remain with them long after the season ends.
The tennis team hopes to continue his legacy as best they can as they travel to Harrison to compete with passion and character in sectionals.
