Senior Bison basketball player Hunter Sisson scored his 1,000th career point last Friday.
Benton Central was facing off against Central Catholic on the road. With about 4 and a half minutes left in the 4th quarter, Hunter caught a pass and drove down the lane. He finished a contested layup to reach 1,000 points. The crowd erupted in excitement for Hunter’s amazing accomplishment.
Hunter’s Basketball Journey
Hunter began his basketball career in Kindergarten playing for the Little Rebels. Then he joined Legacy basketball in 4th grade and played Prarie Crossing basketball in 5th and 6th. In 6th grade, Hunter won the county tourney championship with Praire Crossing, defeating Sacred Heart. He also joined Indiana Ice in 6th grade, a travel basketball team for skilled players.
When he entered Benton Central, he played 7th and 8th grade basketball. He was a starter on the A-team for both seasons. Then in 9th grade, Hunter started for the JV team and played quality Varsity minutes as well. In 10th and 11th grade Hunter was a key player, starting most games. As a junior, he was awarded all-conference honors. But this season, Hunter has been even more impressive. He’s scored multiple 30-point games and has been the leader for the Bison.
Talent and Skills
Hunter is a unique talent. He stands at 6’6″ and 205 lbs but possesses guard-like skills. He is an excellent ballhandler and will occasionally execute a no-look pass to perfection. Hunter is also an outstanding shooter. Whether he’s on the move or spot up in the corner, Hunter can shoot with the best of them. And when he gets to the rim, he is a great finisher. His turnaround hook shot is one of his go-to moves, and it’s a thing of beauty.
All of his experience, hard work, and talent led him to score 1,000 points in his high school basketball career.
Congratulations Hunter Sisson!
