A couple of weeks ago, the ladies’ Bison wrestling team won their “conference.” Because girls’ wrestling is so new, some schools haven’t formed an official conference yet. Rather than having no competition at all, the state organized a large meet that included all schools across the state that did not yet have a conference. With a total of 29 schools competing, it was better than nothing.
Even though they were matched up against schools like Kokomo, Logansport, Lafayette Jefferson, and Marion. Despite being against 4A and 5A schools while being only 2A, the team still pulled through and proved they can compete with anyone.
Seven out of the ten girls ended up placing, earning them all-conference. Taking first place individually was Laurana Dillon. Runners-up were Cecelia Fisher, Sienna Holscher, Isabel Sayre, and Sophia Zarate. Taking third place were Madeline Peterson and Sydney Groves.
The girls who earned the most points toward the team victory were Laurana Dillon, Sienna Holscher, and Isabel Sayre, each contributing 26 points to the team total.
